Meet the Founder
Hi, I’m Rhonda Banks—founder of Guided Principles and part owner of Peaceful Minds at Home Service.
I’m passionate about helping families feel supported, seen, and equipped to move through life’s challenges with strength and dignity. Born and raised in Charlottesville, Virginia, I graduated from Monticello High School in 2007. Over the past two decades, I've not only built a loving family with my partner, sharing the joys and challenges of raising five children, but I've also cultivated a robust career working with children and families.
With over 23 years of experience, I've honed my skills in various specialized areas, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, early childhood development and education, postpartum Doula services, lactation counseling, and mentorship. Additionally, I have expertise in co-parenting, parenting, case management, and social work, making me a versatile and compassionate advocate for children and their families.
I chose to study criminal justice because “I wanted to make a positive impact in my community. This path offered various opportunities to work with young people, whether in juvenile justice, as a youth counselor, or through community outreach and prevention programs. I am dedicated to helping under-served youth find brighter futures. With my knowledge of the legal system and passion for supporting young individuals, I aim to be a valuable mentor and advocate.”
My commitment to continuous learning and passion for supporting families highlight me as an invaluable asset to my community. By providing resources and guidance, I hope to contribute to personal growth and the well-being of the community. My dedication serves as both a resource and inspiration, showing how education and empathy can lead to meaningful change.
My Background
My story is rooted in resilience. As a child growing up in under-served communities, I experienced firsthand how difficult it can be to overcome challenges while living underprivileged. Those early lessons shaped the way I see people—not for what they lack, but for what they can become with the right support.
I earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, which strengthened my commitment to advocacy, accountability, and practical solutions that protect and uplift individuals and families.
My Purpose
My purpose is simple: to help families find steady ground—especially in seasons that feel uncertain or overwhelming. I believe that when people have access to guidance, resources, and encouragement, they can make choices that change the direction of their lives.
What I believe — Support works best when it’s practical, consistent, and rooted in respect for each family’s unique story.
Why Guided Principles Matters
Guided Principles was created from a shared commitment between me and my husband, Dameon Harris. We decided to start this organization to assist families and help them overcome hardships—because we know that tough circumstances don’t define a person’s future.
At Guided Principles, we focus on meeting families with compassion and clarity, helping them take meaningful steps forward—one decision, one resource, and one strengthened relationship at a time.
Community Commitment
Giving back is not something I do only when it’s convenient—it’s part of who I am. I enjoy supporting my community through service, encouragement, and initiatives that create real opportunities for families to thrive.
Show up — Be present and dependable for those who need support.
Listen first — Understand what families are facing before offering solutions.
Build pathways — Help connect people to resources that strengthen stability and hope.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me. I’m honored to do this work, and I’m committed to walking alongside families as they move toward brighter, more peaceful outcomes.
